I think new grounds is the last place on earth where new classic rock is being released, as oxymoronic and not true as that sounds.
I really like the more modern style of singing. reminds me of a cooler, more expressive John Mayer. the band is incredibly tight, the timing is so good and every moment seems to have the same dynamics coming from everyone.
the guitar work is smooth, with classier chops than pretty much any rock to come out of the 2020's so far. really good stuff.
the bassline in the intro is cool, saving notes for when they're really needed. gus seems to really chill out towards the middle until then end, pumping out root notes mostly, filling in something extraordinary under the end of every couple bars. I respect it, gotta do what you gotta do.
ok tho, Jake is the real star of this show. the cymbal work around 1:30 goes right to the deepest part of my lizard brain.
baller song. will be investigating that Spotify page.
